The problem:

Pool owners know the problem: After the wintering of the pool, it is dirty in spring, the tarpaulin sunk and only with great effort to pull out of the pool. In addition, the construction, add-on parts or the foil can get expensive damage due to frost. In addition, ice pressure pads must be installed to drain the snow and ice loads in winter.

>> The solution:

The [R] pool pad is simply inflated in the fall (e.g. battery blower - available in the SHOP), placed on the pool and covered with the tarp.

Unlike other manufacturers who combine several small pads, this solution does not create "water pockets", i.e. depressions between the individual pads. The cover is stretched evenly and acts like a roof where environmental influences simply run off.

What size is right for my pool?

Take a look at our size chart in the CoverMio Shop! Click here for the info.

The problem: Dirty pool

Fully inflated in winter

The solution: Clean pool

In summer, it is enough not to fully inflate the cushion, since the water level in the pool is already just below the edge. This will help you achieve the desired curvature of the cover effortlessly.

In winter, most customers dismantle their filter system to protect it from frost. To do this, simply drain the water to just below the inlet (usually approx. 50-60 cm lower edge from the pool edge) and completely fill the pool cushion with air (approx. 1-1.2 m high inflatable). This will still give you a height of about 60 cm above the pool edge to create a "roof" with the cover.

You can find a detailed article on pool winterizing here on our new Shop CoverMio!

  • Particularly affordable solution
  • Easy installation
  • Standard sizes can be ordered immediately in the SHOP
  • Only one (!) pillow necessary
  • No frost damage to the pool
  • clean pool in spring
  • No sinking of the pool liner due to “water bags” (e.g. due to rainwater)
  • Use also in summer to protect against dirt in combination with a tarpaulin
  • Complete set incl. cords for fixation and repair kit

For even faster filling, we now have a clever solution in our online store CoverMio:

The Battery Air Pump / Compressor SET has two devices with accuebtrieb, charging station, filling adapter for all common valves and is in a practical case. With a delivery rate of 450 l/min, filling is now child's play!

You should know that:

The volume of the filled XXL air cushion changes due to temperature changes (winter/summer). At warm ambient temperature it expands, at colder temperatures the air contracts.

Especially with falling outside temperatures in autumn and winter it may be necessary to refill the XL pool cushion with air.

In spring the air will expand again and you can let some of it out. However, the XL air cushion is designed for these changes and cannot be damaged by them.

We explain the correct filling possibilities with el. air pump, or e.g. vacuum cleaner with blowing function, foot pump etc. in our application video for the correct operation of the valve.

Hello Guido. Depending on the raw material, we can manufacture pool cushions up to a width of 2m. Theoretically, the length is not limited. But in terms of handling, a maximum length of 8 m is recommended. In your case, the solution would be: use 2x a pool cushion with 2 × 8 m. You can order these directly from us (later also in the shop with 2 × 6/2 × 7 and 2 × 8 m - it's our turn) at: mailto:bestellung@rothschenk.de.

      Hello Mrs. Krug,

the best would be the XL pool pad in 2×4 m. The important thing is the tight tensioning of the tarp. We have already supplied over 700 customers with this format this year and there were no problems. ;-) You can find the link there here.

Which cushion do I need for a round pool with a diameter of 3.6m?

    26. September 2020 at 16:47
    • Anonymous Reply

Hi Daniel. With a diameter of 3.60 m you have the choice between: Pool Cushion 2×2,5 m and the 2×4 m Pool Cushion. When inflated (about 1m high) creates a kind of "dome". By tightly tensioning the overlying tarpaulin, the water can then drain off without any problems. Tight tensioning is more important than a pool cushion reaching exactly to the edge of the pool. At this dimension 3.60 m both variants would be conceivable. Goes super fix inflate with the electric air pump ;-)

      Hello Mrs. Kremser,
with a format of 5 × 3 m the 5 × 2 m pool cushion clearly the right choice. The length fits perfectly and the width is also completely sufficient, as only approx. 50 cm have to be bridged to the side. As mentioned in the other comments, the taut tensioning of the tarpaulin is essential. The new self-adhesive Velcro strips (5 × 70 cm, free upgrade with every order) help with fixing.

Hello, we have a pool with a diameter of 350 cm. 4 m is too long and 2.50 m too short, do you have an interim solution?

    27. September 2020 at 17:09
    • Anonymous Reply

Hello Katja. With a diameter of 3.50 m, the Pool Cushion 2×2,5 m is the right one. When inflating (approx. 1m high) a kind of "dome" is created. The water can then run off easily by tensioning the tarpaulin above. Tight tensioning is more important than a pool cushion reaching exactly to the edge of the pool. In your case there would be a distance of about 60 cm all around. If you want to be sure, you could also take the 2×4 m Pool Cushion because when inflating it shortens depending on the volume introduced in the length and width, so for example, from 4m to 3.50m. By the way, the fastest way is with the electric air pump ;-)

      Hello Werner,
in this case, a 2×4 m XXL Pool Cushion. When fully inflated, it has a format of around 1.80 x 3.60 m, which is enough to create a nice slope with a taut tarpaulin. All around there would be some space of approx. 25 cm, but this would be loosely bridged without creating "water pockets".

Hello Nikolai. In your case, the solution would be: Either insert a pool cushion with 2 × 8 m and tension it neatly, or put a second one next to it. The water would still run off, as a kind of "gutter" would be created. You can order these directly from us (later also in the shop with 2 × 6/2 × 7 and 2 × 8 m - it's our turn) at: mailto:bestellung@rothschenk.de.

  • Nikolai Schiel Reply

For an oval pool, wouldn't a shorter cushion be better? e.g. 6x3 m?

    30. September 2020 at 14:14
    • Anonymous Reply

Hello Nikolai, theoretically yes. But the raw material "foil" is limited to 2m. We are not limited in length, so 8m is no problem to get as close to the edge as possible. Of course you could also take 1x 2x7m and on the right and left side one of the 725 x 1.200 mm pool pads to support the cover. But on the one hand, experience shows that a large pad in the middle is sufficient if the tarpaulin is neatly tightened. On the other hand, there is always a slight risk of water pockets when using several pool cushions.

Hello Dirk, the 2x5 m XXXL Pool Cushion fit perfectly. It becomes slightly smaller when inflated (it builds up continuously in height up to about 1m) and therefore remains within your dimensions. With this size unebdingt use an el. air pump or e.g. a vacuum cleaner with blowing function, otherwise it takes quite long. Mfg, Thomas.

          Hello Ms. Riemann,

best would be suitable 2×6 m pool cushion (In our new SHOP CoverMio to find here), as it best fills the dimension of the pool. Of course, a shorter cushion always carries the "risk" of the tarp sinking in. Ultimately, with a shorter 2x5m cushion, it depends on how you can pull the tarp taut. In any case, the tarp should not give in and soften and stretch under sunlight, for example. LG, the Rothschenk/CoverMio team.

Regarding your question: We have created a special application video for the SMART valve. You can find this under: https://youtu.be/fHyo8CFZeGw

A small tip: weigh down the pool cushion with a weight (e.g. wooden plate) to accelerate the air release. Then roll up the pool cushion, e.g. with a roller, in the direction of the open valve.

Something else to mention are the pool pillows from Rothschenk!
In the last really snowy winter (in North - Hesse) tried for the first time and rated as a great product.
Finally pool pads are on the market that have valves that are really tight for months (8), which is not the case with all manufacturers in the field.
Even 30 - 40cm of fresh snow could not bring the Rothschenk pool cushions to their knees.
Winterized in October and taken from pool cover at the end of May with the same amount of air.
A clear recommendation from me when it comes to winterizing above ground pools.
This keeps snow and dirt out and you have clean clear water in the spring!
Also a form of correct handling of limited raw materials ( drinking water).

    Best regards, Lutz Adler

      Hello Patrik,

Thank you for asking. With this format we would give you the XXXL pool pad in size 2×5 m recommend. Depending on how tight you can stretch your tarpaulin, already 1 pool cushion would be good enough. Two pool pads next to each other would also be conceivable - but will probably not be necessary - it is also a cost factor ;-). Side by side would be possible, because when inflating the cushion is shortened by about 20 cm in each direction and 3.80 m would be covered. will you soon include round air cushions in your range?
I have a 6m round pool (completely embedded in the ground) without a possibility to lash the winter cover tightly, because everything around is covered with paving slabs.
I only have the option of placing filled water bags in the outer diameter area of the tarp.
Thus, I am concerned that if I have to use an oval pad, I will again get unwanted water pooling on the winter tarp, which will cause the tarp to sink in, since the necessary support is missing from underneath.

Thank you very much for your comment.

    good day.my pool is 7*3.50
a 5*2 pool pillow would suffice.
over the cushions later comes a truck tarpaulin and is fastened with tension belts.
love greetings and thank you 😎

Hello Marcel, in principle this would https://covermio.de/produkt/xxxl-poolpolster-poolkissen-2-000-x-6-000-mm-set-sonderanfertigung/ would fit better, since a 2x5m cushion shortens to approx. 4.50 m when filled. Otherwise, there would be 1.5 m free space to the left and right of your pool. Unfortunately, the square pool cushions are already sold out for the 2022 season. We will be happy to help you again next season. LG your CoverMio Team.

Hello Joachim, first of all: congratulations on the really big pool. In fact, it would make sense here to lay two pool cushions of the dimension 2x8m next to each other. Then the area would be covered in the best possible way. LG your CoverMio team.
